The union budget 2012-13 presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherje on March 17 was below expectation of Engineering & Technology Sectors.Budget disappoints Science,Technology,Engineering,Software sections while brings glory to Space Missions & Research.
Software body Nasscom expressed its disappointment over 2012-13 budget as it has no fresh proposals for the USD 100 billion Indian IT-BPO sector even as the industry's request to exempt SEZ income from Minimum Alternative Tax has been ignored.
Union Budget is below satisfactory in Science & Technology section.Funds for various department alloted are hiked only just 25 percent.Departments of Science and Technology, Scientific and Industrial Research and Biotechnology have got a hike of just about 10 per cent.Atomic Energy Department has seen a hike of about 18 per cent.Anyway Space mission,Ocean/Polar related research get significance in budget;thanks for 64 percent hike for Department of Space and 50 percent hike for Ministry of Earth Sciences.

The Indian Space Research Organisation’s ambitious plan to send an orbiter to Mars has received a boost with the Budget making an allocation of Rs. 125 crore for the mission.The Budget also provides an allocation of Rs. 60.46 crore for ISRO’s human spaceflight programme and Rs. 170 crore for its plans to put in place a regional navigation satellite system for the Indian sub-continent on the lines of the U.S.-operated Global Positioning System.Nearly 82.5 cores allocated for the Chandrayaan-II mission to moon.

Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee approved an allocation around Rs 1450 crore in the Union Budget 2012-13 to complete the aadhar.Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique number issue for all residents in India. The number will be stored in a centralized database and linked to the basic demographics and biometric information – photograph, ten fingerprints and iris – of each individual.
