Ultra Pixel Camera Technology

HTC recently launched its latest flagship device, the HTC One, that boasts new imaging technology in its UltraPixel camera. The HTC One takes photos at 4-megapixels resolution and with the help of a more advanced CMOS Sensor, ISP, and optical lens system, it captures significantly above 300 per cent more light than most 8 or 13 megapixel camerasImage sensors are covered in photodiodes that convert light into electricity, which is processed and recorded as data. Each pixel in your photo represents one photosite on the sensor. When you take a picture, the camera's shutter flies open for a fraction of a second letting photons pour in. Bigger photosites can capture more photons, and thus, capture more data. The difference is especially pronounced in conditions where the light sucks.Ultra pixel camera have advantage of better clarity than mega pixel cameras.Ultra Pixel Camera technology can even be used in Cheaper Smartphones is a notable application. For criticts we'll have to wait to see how the rest of the camera's tech performs

UltraPixel camera "that includes a best-in-class f/2.0 aperture lens and a breakthrough sensor with UltraPixels that gather 300 percent more light than traditional smartphone camera sensors. This new approach also delivers astounding low-light performance and a variety of other improvements to photos and videos."The camera spec does not tell how many pixels the camera has, saying instead that the sensor is of BSI type, has 2.0um pixels and 1/3-inch format. The camera has F2.0 lens with OIS. Both front and back cameras support HDR in stills and video mode.Camera quality is completely separate to megapixel counts — the belief that more megapixels means better pictures is a big fat lie,” said HTC Asia’s senior marketing director, Darren Sng, during launch.“So we created a new type of pixel that is double the size of what you find on other sensors, which allows it to capture 330 percent more light.”Sng claimed that the HTC One camera produced sharper, more detailed photos with less noise and better colour accuracy than the market’s leading smartphones, including the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III.
