Kalpsar Project Capturing Tidal energy

The Kalpasar Project envisages building a dam across the Gulf of Khambat for generating tidal power and for establishing a huge reservoir for fresh water for irrigation, drinking and industrial purposes. A 10 lane road link will also be set up over the dam, greatly reducing the distance between Saurashtra and South Gujarat,India.

Load Monitoring

Electric load monitoring generates important data that can help to unravel the mystery behind commercial facilities' energy usage characteristics.A Nonintrusive Appliance Load Monitor (NALM) is designed to monitor an electrical circuit that contains a number of devices (appliances) which switch on and off independently. By a sophisticated analysis of the current and voltage waveforms of the total load, the NALM estimates the number and nature of the individual loads, their individual energy consumption, and other relevant statistics such as time-of-day variations.

Nano Fuel Cell

Fuel cells are capable of directly converting fuel into electricity.Nanotechnology's role in Electrical Engineering have been applied here.Engineers World earlier explain how to bringing down the cost of fuel cells with nanorods in our News section.Optimization of nano-fuel cell arrays have a key role in

Maglev Train

Maglev Train is a system of transportation that uses magnetic levitation to suspend, guide and propel vehicles from magnets rather than using mechanical methods, such as wheels, axles and bearings. Maglev transport is a means of flying a vehicle or object along a guideway by using magnets to create both lift and thrust, only a few inches above the guideway surface. High-speed maglev vehicles are lifted off  Download Full Seminar

Protection of overhead transmission against lighting

The voltage uprating of existing overhead lines is an interesting solution for increasing the transmission of electricity, especially in areas where it is difficult to build new lines. If a line is uprated with minor changes of its design and without improvement of the grounding electrodes of towers, its lightning performance remains unchanged. The consequence is that the uprated line will have a lightning flashover rate very high compared to an overhead line of same nominal voltage but of standard design.

Protection through switchyard equipment

Seminar should carry purposes and functions of the major equipment used in substations and switchyards. Equipment used for protection, regulation, monitoring, and communication is introduced, too. Seminar also covers some of the typical checks that are made during an inspection of a switchyard or substation. Switchyard equipment specifications, datasheets, and standards review should also be explained.

PWM technique applied to induction motor

Electrical Engineering Students can take seminar based on Speed control of induction motor using pwm techniques. Reduction in induction motor heating fed by a new PWM technique will give importance in your slide.Modelling Pulse Width Modulation control of a single phase induction motor is a good topic for seminar.

Quality of Electrical power

The definition of Power Quality cannot belimited to the characteristics of the supply power. The definition must also include the requirements of the load. Power Quality Issues and Remedial Measures can also be highlighted while preparing your seminar presentation. Measures and standards of electric power quality should be included in your presentation Slide.

Reverse Magnetism

"Will the magnetic field of the Earth reverse its direction in the future?". Answers to these existing questions can be given in your Seminar. While taking seminar related to Reverse Magnetism you should explain audience about possibility of magnetic reversal & how it affect life. Since audience may ask plenty of doubts regarding your topics Engineers World recommend to choose from above or below topics.

Radial Feeder Protection

The main characteristics of Radial Feeder is that power can flow only one direction, from generator or supply end to the load. Time graded protection of a radial feeder can be achieved by using Definite time relay or Inverse time relay. Radial Feeder has the disadvantage that continuity of the supply cannot be maintained at the receiving end in the event of fault .

Reactive Power Consumption in Transmission Line (Download pdf )

Large operational margins and redundancies are maintained to protect the
system from dynamic variation and recover from faults. This not only increases the cost
and lowers the efficiency, but also increases the complexity of the system and augments
the difficulty of operation and control. Severe black-outs happened recently in power
grids worldwide and these have revealed that conventional transmission systems are
unable to manage the control requirements of the complicated interconnections and
variable power flow.  Download pdf now

Reactive power management

Reactive Power Management has importance due to high transmission and distribution losses. Quality of supply, cost of reactive power, poser tariffs and market forces are of significant importance in Reactive Power Management.

Surge Arrestor

A surge arrestor is installed between communication equipment and coaxial cable connector or between two communication equipments to protect communication equipment from damage caused by transient state voltage formed by lightning induction.

Axial-field electrical machines

axial-field electrical machines offer an alternative to the conventional machines. In the axial-field machine, the airgap flux is axial in direction and the active current carrying conductors are radially positioned. The special features of the axial-field machine are planar and adjustable airgap, flat shape, ease of diversification, etc., enable axial-field machines to have distinct advantages over conventional machines in certain applications, especially in special-purpose applications

Brushless Alternators

A brushless alternator is composed of two alternators built end-to-end on one shaft. Smaller brushless alternators may look like one unit but the two parts are readily identifiable on the large versions. The larger of the two sections is the main alternator and the smaller one is the exciter. Download Now

Buck Boost Transformer

Buck Boost Transformers were developed to supply voltages for two main categories; the first of which is when the local power is consistently not high or low enough to correctly and safely run the equipment at its rated power load.A Buck Boost Transformer is designed to lower (buck) or raise (boost) line voltage in a range of 5% to 20%.Buck Boost Transformers are also used when significantly lower voltages are needed, as in low voltage lighting and landscape lighting.

Conditional Access (CA System)

Conditional access (CA) is a technology used to control access to digital television (DTV) services to authorized users by encrypting the transmitted programming. The CA does this by encrypting the broadcaster's programs. Consequently, the programs must be decrypted at the receiving end before they can be decoded for viewing.CA offers capabilities such as pay-per-view (PPV), interactive features such as video-on-demand (VOD) and games, the ability to restrict access to certain material and the ability to direct messages to specific set-top boxes (based on geographic region).

DVD Combo ROM disc Technology

E-Bomb

An e-bomb (electromagnetic bomb) is a weapon that uses an intense electromagnetic field to create a brief pulse of energy that affects electronic circuitry without harming humans or buildings. The concept behind the e-bomb arose from nuclear weaponry research. The development of conventional E-bomb devices allows their use in non-nuclear confrontations.

E-nose

An electronic nose (e-nose) is a device that identifies the specific components of an odor and analyzes its chemical makeup to identify it. An electronic nose consists of a mechanism for chemical detection, such as an array of electronic sensors, and a mechanism for pattern recognition, such as a neural network .E-Noses reduce risk and complaints from environmental pollution.E-Noses offer new, non-invasive and rapid diagnostics for human and animal healthThey will revolutionise diagnosis of diseases in humans and provide major improvement in flock and herd management.

E-paper & Display Screen Technologies

New screen and e-paper technologies are poised to change the way we read and interact with our devices. If we have surfing in a smart phone or tab most exisiting question is regarding it's display. amazing viewing experience in bright situations like outdoors and exceptional colors from the natural lighting are said to be the key advantages of this technique.

Homo Polar Generator

A homo polar generator is a DC electrical generator comprising an electrically conductive disc or cylinder rotating in a plane perpendicular to a uniform static magnetic field. A potential difference is created between the center of the disc and the rim (or ends of the cylinder), the electrical polarity depending on the direction of rotation and the orientation of the field. It is also known as a unipolar generator, acyclic generator, disk dynamo, or Faraday disc.
